I worked as writer/director on Hungry Shark Shorts, a series of animated short films bringing to life the characters from the massively popular mobile game franchise. At the time of writing they currently have anywhere from 8 to 20 million views on YouTube, somehow. I remember being amazed when it reached 100,000!
This was the first short I was in charge of planning and directing. Final animation was done by The Pixel Hive with audio by Stafford Bawler. I wanted to ensure that the humour would work in the time available so I made a 3D animatic myself...
I didn't even try to make this look good, because if people liked it with no visual finesse at all, then we could feel confident they'd like the pretty version.
This one was made to introduce the sharks of the new game, Hungry Shark World. In the end Ubisoft decided to use it to announce the game.
This is my least favourite. It was a twist on Shark Week, run by Discovery Channel, who we partnered with. I made/sourced the content on the TV.
